On March 17, 2022, around 8:15am, a thirteen year old Mountain View Boy was struck and killed by a dump truck while riding his bike. The fatal collision occurred at the intersection of El Camino Real and Grant Road. The teenager was taken from the scene to the hospital where he passed away from his injuries.
The victim, Andre Retana, was a student at Graham Middle School. He is said to have ridden his bike to school every day and was vigilant.
According to Mountain View Police Public Information Officer, Katie Nelson, “The driver of the truck, he remained on scene and was incredibly cooperative with us. We are currently investigating the cause of the collision. But what I can say for sure is that speed, alcohol or drugs were not factors in the crash.”
